Reflections on IDEX Abu Dhabi 2025 - Stewart Bartlett, Managing Director of Austability Abu Dhabi

Striving for future potential at IDEX Abu Dhabi - one of the world’s and certainly the Middle East’s most important tri-service defense exhibition.  This was an opportunity to learn about future technology growth opportunities and, most importantly, to strengthen current client and supplier relationships - and foster new ones.

IDEX is the first major exhibition that Austability has attended in such a high profile way.  Alongside me was the Vice President of Marketing and Communications, John Thompson, and our Dubai Administrative Support Specialist Joy Demaso. 

While the exhibition served as an important networking opportunity, there were particular important insights:

• The possibilities of AI - with artificial intelligence seeing an exponential boom within industries and the social consciousness, the further implementation in the defense industry offers great potential.
• Automation and simulation - the potential of automation and simulation within the industry also offers opportunities in streamlining and overseeing processes which are things to keep an eye on in the future.
• Drones and robotics - technological advancements in drones and robotics offers further insights into the trajectory of the defense industry, with key strategies needing to focus on these areas as potential opportunities.

IDEX offered great insights from around the world, and explored potential challenges and technologies that can be implemented in any location where an organisation is considering doing business. 

Reflecting on those insights alongside our clients and suppliers, reaffirms that we stand ready to deliver world class operational support services to the Five Eyes, their allies and partners. By being able to look to the future and to potential technological advancements, we are able to keep our support services at the pinnacle of the industry.
