Austability’s first AUKUS Unpacked webinar now available to watch
Austability held its first first ever webinar for our AUKUS Unpacked series this month, following on from the AUKUS white paper series.
Our guest was Austability’s former Senior Vice President of Global Operations Robert ‘RJ’ Jennings, in conversation with our Vice President of Marketing and Communications, John Thompson.
The session covered a range of topics surrounding the current challenges providers are navigating in the Indo-Pacific. RJ highlighted how the compounding factors of global tariffs, conflict and capacity is creating competition and scarcity of key resources. He noted:
“In the [Indo-Pacific] region, things are very clear, everything is going to be harder, it’s going to be more expensive, and less predictable… The level of urgency has escalated. It’s no longer enough to be flexible. You have to be structurally resilient, networked, proactive and extremely read in.”
Discussions covered some of the geopolitical sensitivities of the region and the complexity this brings to operations.
“Local governments are very cautious, alliances are very nuanced, and we, as service providers in the region, we have to navigate not only the politics, but the logistical terrain, as well as the cultures.”
The session also explored the technology adoption required to support modern-day Indo-Pacific operations and need for cultural awareness and sensitivity.
“A multicultural environment does encourage more adaptive and inclusive teams. Those that understand the local customs, the language, you see decision-making dynamics are a lot more effective, and you’re able to really gain trust, reduce friction, and ultimately deliver on the ground, which is what we are all striving to do. ”
