Africa Conflict Projects and Opportunities for the Defense Industry
History of Africa Conflict Projects
Africa has a longstanding history of conflicts and war and a new era of armed conflicts urgently calls for how African conflicts are managed and resolved. According to African economic, social and political development experts, the Africa Union (UA) was created and has been mandating peace operations since 2003 to assist in managing multiple peace operations in the region. Some of the peace operations to date have included the UA Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), UA Mission in Sudan (AMIS), and the UA Mission in Burundi (AMIB). More recently, the UA has authorized and supported operations that have dealt with brutal militant organizations including the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), Sahel Region Jihadists, and Boko Haram.
